Course Description:
Learn to create abstract 3D art forms by exploring non-objective, organic and figurative themes. Stoneware clay, along with metal, glass, and found objects may be used. Instruction in slab and coil building techniques will be investigated. Some sculpture experience is recommended. This class will use two specific stoneware clays with grog added for stability.

No previous sculpting experience is necessary as many of the fundamentals will be reviewed as needed by instructor based on previous teaching of Sheila Oettinger, Barbara Goldsmith and Shengsheng Xu over the past two decades at EAC. Explore your particular style while considering the form and proportions and gesture of the model’s pose.“Please bring a sketchbook for 5 or 6 quick sketches to start each class and for studies of each pose.

Course Description:
Independent studio time with a nude model holding one pose per session. There is no instructor, and the course is informal with a monitor overseeing all studio sessions. Figure sculpture experience is a prerequisite.

Students work with a variety of drawing materials and techniques while learning the keys to successful composition and eye-catching value patterns. Learn foundational skills and creative approaches to drawing the still life. You’ll explore the use of charcoal, graphite, and micro pens.
