Course Description:

Come join us for creative play with new and old favorites - from crayons to pastels, watercolors to acrylics - we'll try them all! In this course, we will also explore early art principles such as balance, contrast, movement, and pattern. This course is perfect for students who wish to explore a variety of media and techniques. Students will complete unique pieces to highlight their studies with each medium. All pieces will be brought home by the end of the course. Let the creativity begin!

Beginning Drawing Ages 9-13

Students begin to learn drawing fundamentals such as line, perspective, proportion, and composition. They explore different materials and techniques as they draw from observation and imagination. RETURN STUDENTS WELCOME! The teacher works individually with students to develop skills and creative ideas.

Youth Art Open Studio Ages 7-14

Course Description:

Develop ideas and create projects you imagine! Work in the medium of your choice: painting, sculpture, clay, drawing, or mixed media. This class is an open studio setting without a structured curriculum and formal instruction. Each student is taught individually. During some sessions, the class accompanied by the instructor may go to a nearby park to draw from nature or other outdoor surroundings. Students should be comfortable working independently.

Paper Worlds Ages 9-13

Course Description:

We use paper as the foundation for making so much art, but often overlook it as a medium itself. In this class, you will be learning how to make your own ‘paper theaters’ – intricate layers of paper cutouts carefully arranged to create a scene. Using our imaginations, we will build stories and worlds – all out of nothing more than paper and a little glue!

Art Club Ages 5-8

In Art Club, you'll get to play around with all kinds of materials and supplies in the Youth Fine Arts studio each week. Not only will we learn a lot of artmaking principles and elements of design by MAKING art, we'll have the MOST fun doing it!

Youth Intro to Ceramics Ages 13-17

Course Description:

Learn the basics using both the wheel and hand-building techniques. Wheel techniques will begin with simpler forms including a cylinder, bowl, and plate leading into more in-depth processes. Hand building will include pinch pots, coil, and slab. You will receive direction and encouragement to expand on areas of your own interest.
