Learn to sew patchwork quilt blocks with a sewing machine. You’ll explore all the fundamentals, from using a rotary cutter and ruler to tips and tricks for perfect machine piecing and seam pressing. Create a new block each week, beginning with the simplest design, and adding new elements with each block. Students must be confident in using a sewing machine.

Discover how a basic sewing machine can add embellishment and dimension to fabric in your creative projects. Learn sewing techniques like fiber couching, thread sketching, applique, and techniques to add texture to fabric with ruffles, pleating, layered cutting, and controlled crumpling.

Beginning Painting Through Color

Course Description:

Color is one of the primary building blocks of a good painting!  Start at the beginning with a solid foundation of color usage.  Color theory and science  will be applied in beginning exercises. 

Students will then learn to use color, value, color groupings and composition to create basic, dimensional still life paintings.  Group lecture and individual instruction help students on their way to mastering color usage in painting.

All opaque mediums welcome. 

Bookbinding: Basics and Beyond Ages 16+

Course Description:

Learn the materials and methods of bookbinding, and make a variety of handmade books. Starting with folded books and pamphlet stitch, students will gradually hone their skill and continue on to more complex books. You will complete eight or more books over the course of the session, books that can be used as journals or given as gifts! 

Repeaters of the course will practice learning new skills alongside new binders, honing their craft.
