CALL FOR CURATOR

The COMPASS Curator Residency provides an emerging curator with an opportunity to curate three shows in the Evanston Art Center’s Lobby Gallery space. The EAC’s Lobby Gallery is a space dedicated to exhibiting emerging and underrepresented artists/curators, and responds to current and social events. This dynamic and inclusive space draws in new curators, artists, and audiences. The chosen curator will receive a $1,000 stipend to curate 3 exhibitions throughout the year. Each show should be planned within the year being exhibited. 

 

Space: Two movable walls (8’ h x 8’ w) in the Lobby area of the EAC. 

 

We are looking for a Curator who:

  • Is emerging in their field- 10 or fewer shows
  • Has some experience with the art and curating

 

Guidelines for the space: 

- Exhibitions should be planned within the fellowship timeframe

-All work should fall into one of the following categories:

- Emerging Artist

- Underrepresented Artist

-Including but not limited to:

- BIPOC

- LGBTQIA+

- These are not 3 solo shows for the curator; there should be no work from the curator included in the exhibitions.

- Topic Focuses on Current Social Issues

- Must Follow General EAC Exhibition Guideline Apply 

 

Exhibition Dates:

  • Show 1; March 14 - April 19, 2026
  • Show 2; August 15 - September 20, 2026
  • Show 3; September 26 - November 1, 2026
