Welcome to the Jewelry, Metalsmithing & Metal Sculpture Department!

From tiny, delicate jewelry and household items to tiaras and sculptural forms, you will be able to explore a wide variety of metal works in our department. You will use mainly copper, brass, silver, and gold metals and can integrate wood, stone, found objects, traditional gemstones, or nontraditional materials into your creations.

Our multitude of classes focuses on techniques from hammering and mold-making to etching. In our fabrication classes, you can make rings, bracelets, and necklaces and set stones using hammers, torches, and other tools. Carve and transform wax into rings and more in casting; in our enameling classes, you can learn to fuse colorful glass onto copper forms.

Our faculty are passionate and highly skilled - some have over 20 years of teaching experience. They are committed to mentoring their students, developing strong creative bonds and helping you succeed.

Our tools and equipment include a 5-torch station soldering room, hydraulic press for high power forming, a rolling mill to thin your metal, and high quality Vcilla enameling kilns for enameling. We also have casting equipment, buffers and flex shafts for polishing your creations, forming stakes and hammers for forging and forming, and other hand tools.

EAC's smaller class sizes, excellent faculty, and close artistic community ensure that each student gets the attention they need to succeed and nurture their own creative process.
