STUDIO EXHIBITION: STUDENTS OF BONNIE KATZ

August 31 – September 17, 2017

In this class, Mosaics, Bonnie Katz teaches the process of creating a mosaic piece: cutting tile, layout and design, substrates, adhesives and grouting. Each project is a unique collection of found ceramic and glass repurposed to create a multitude of designs and objects.

STUDIO EXHIBITION: STUDENTS OF ERIK BEEHN

August 31 – September 17, 2017

In this class, Relief Printmaking, Erik Beehn teaches traditional and contemporary methods of relief printmaking that familiarizes students with the tools, techniques and the translation of imagery and ideas for this direct and rewarding process. Students are introduced to linoleum, wood and alternative substrates, and guided through more advanced techniques including reduction prints, additive processes, multiple block and color methods of printing, as well as exploring more contemporary approaches and applications.

RAUL ORTIZ

November 17 – December 20, 2017

As a process painter, Ortiz’s goal is to create a poetically contemporary landscape that captures an array of subtle shapes, textures, gestures, light and vibrant color relationships derived from the tradition of abstraction. This exploration is executed by juxtaposing colorful expressive brushstrokes with patches of flat spaces for contemplation, and randomly framing areas by the use of a silhouetted images, e.g. a tree, flora.  These images are derived from photocopies of photographs taken on walks during trips or around town.

WINTER ARTS & CRAFTS EXPO

The Evanston Art Center’s Winter Arts & Crafts Expo is one of the largest and most celebrated craft shows in the Chicago area. The 15th annual Expo will feature original arts and crafts by over 100 selected artisans, featuring works of jewelry, ceramics, fiber, metal, glass, painting, photography, mixed-media, and more.
