Sculpt the figure in clay from live models. Models generally hold the same pose for three classes. Study the model, learning to see proportions, gesture, and anatomy as you work realistically or use the model as inspiration for more imaginative interpretative work. This class will use two specific stoneware clays with grog added for stability. Three week poses with four different models

Painting the Still Life in Oil Ages 16+

Utilizing still life, students will learn step-by-step procedures along with the materials and craftsmanship of oil paint. Through studies and exercises, the essential skill of drawing accurately will be developed and the fascinating realms of color theory, composition, and creating the illusion of dimension will be explored.

Independent Study: Figure Sculpture

Course Description:

This is for those interested in studio access without instruction. Anyone enrolling must adhere to EAC’s studio policies on materials, clean-up, and entrance and exit procedures. Prerequisite: students enrolled in Independent Study must have completed one Figure Sculpture class at EAC. Time depends on class schedules and will be determined in the first week of class.

Abstract Painting Studio

Course Description:

What is abstract? Students are encouraged to work in series, giving you the ability to evolve through an investigation of your own work. You will be introduced to methods to learn abstraction while exploring personal expression. These new skills enrich and bring a sense of order to paintings, giving you the confidence to develop an exciting and cohesive body of work.

Pen & Ink & Plein Air in Chicago Ages 16+

Course Description:

Venture outdoors to the Montrose Bird Sanctuary and the Caldwell Lily Pool and create Plein Air drawings and paintings.  Students will create artwork from nature and occasional buildings/architectural structures and elements. For materials you’ll experiment with micron pens, brush pens, gel pens, additional pens and sketching materials. After sketching, students are invited to continue with a pen and/or incorporate watercolor paints into their compositions.

Photoshop II

Course Description:

During this 6-week follow-up course, you'll put what you've learned during Photoshop I in new ways. Progress with your new-found Photoshop skills as you learn advanced methods for managing color, controlling tonality and  creating black and white conversions that pop. You'll also be introduced to some of the most popular third-party application add-ons and plug-ins.
