Discover both natural and urban subject matter. We will work both en plein air and in the classroom. Look forward to a couple of field trips.

This class is a natural next step for students looking to continue studying the drawing process. It is perfect for anyone who has taken a beginning drawing course recently or years ago. Using both color and black and white mediums, we will re-examine the fundamentals and begin to apply them to the next level. A variety of techniques and styles will be discussed and pursued through direct observation and personal expression.

Find your voice as an artist!

Work on the project of your choice in a welcoming environment with fellow artists. Get ideas and encouragement in moving your creations forward. Aspects of composition, value, and color will be discussed and demonstrated. Students may work from a photo, a still life, or from pure imagination.

This class is open to all painting and drawing media.

Advanced Portrait Study with Model Ages 16+

In this class, we focus on colored portraits to gain a deep understanding of skin tones. We practice color combinations and values while developing our technical skills by reviewing proportions and dimensions. Students are welcome to use any dry materials such as charcoal, pastel, colored pencil,...etc!

Participants are required to have the basic understanding of portrait foundation.

Open Figure Drawing Studio

Participants must have previously completed one EAC painting or drawing class. Figure Studio offers participants the opportunity to work in their choice of media and study the nude. Poses range from one to thirty minutes. Instruction is not included; a classroom monitor will lead the class.

Landscape Painting in the Studio

Course Description:

Create landscape paintings in the studio using photos as a starting point. Learn to express your love of nature in paint, utilizing color, composition, and creative mark-making. Great paintings of the past (& present) will be referenced to inspire you to move beyond simply copying the information in photos, and help you find your voice as an artist.

This class is suitable for oil, acrylic, and pastel.

Watercolors: Materials, Composition, and Technique Ages 16+

Course Description:

Create both vibrant and subdued paintings with strong compositions using watercolor tubes and watercolor pencils. Instruction includes watercolor techniques- applying watercolor washes, painting wet in wet, and painting without a sketch. Learn about staining and lightfast colors. The instructor will provide a variety of still-lifes. We will have individual and group critiques to receive supportive responses from classmates.
