Sharpen your observational skills in this Drawing from Life studio! Students will improve their hand-eye coordination and refine their drawing abilities by exploring still life, natural landscapes, and portraiture. All skill levels are welcome to join and learn essential drawing techniques using charcoal, pen and ink, oil pastel, and more. Note: Weather permitting, some classes may be held outside at McCulloch Park.  

 

Photo Collage & Zines Ages 12-14 (Week 8)

Do you love photography, collage, and creating zines? This camp is ideal for students looking to unleash their creativity by blending these two mediums. Participants will practice with digital cameras, learn the fundamentals of photography, and transform their captured images into unique mixed-media photo collages and zines. NOTE: Students will take a field trip to the Ladd Arboretum to help create content for their projects.

 

Bookbinding & Art Journaling Ages 12-14 (Week 7)

This hands-on camp introduces the essential skills and tools for creating handcrafted books. Students will learn techniques including folding, sewing, and gluing, and explore various stitches and structures to produce sample books. Students will discover how to adapt these methods for artists' books featuring their own drawings and prints to create personalized sketchbooks.

Fashion Illustration Ages 12-14 (Week 6)

Attention all future designers! This week is dedicated to aspiring fashion designers eager to explore the art of drawing fashion figures and bringing their design concepts to life. Using markers, colored pencils, watercolors, and more, students will tap into their creativity to develop and illustrate a one-of-a-kind clothing collection. Participants will learn how to select design themes, choose colors, and pick fabrics. The final project will be a lookbook of completed designs.

 

3D Printing Ages 12-14 (Week 5)

Students will develop essential skills in 3D modeling using TinkerCAD, learning design methodologies that unlock the potential of this cutting-edge technology. This class encourages experimentation with different materials as students bring their ideas to life using the 3D printer.
