Intermediate Woodworking for Adults

Course Description:

Building upon the information, tools, and techniques covered in the Basic Woodworking class or for new students with previous woodworking experience. Students will continue working on current projects as well as beginning new ones approved by the instructor. Understanding wood and wood movement, purchasing raw lumber, furniture joinery, finishing techniques, and a thorough understanding of hand and power tools in today’s woodworking shops will be explored. Students will be expected to purchase their own materials for their projects.

Intro to Woodturning for Adults

This is for those interested in studio access without instruction. Anyone enrolling must have a studio orientation and adhere to EAC’s studio policies on materials, cleanup, and entrance and exit procedures. Prerequisite: students enrolled must have completed one wood class at EAC. Open Studio begins second week of classes.

Beginning Screen Printing

Course Description:

If you are new to either art making or screen printing, this class is for you. Using a mix of techniques and tools, you’ll learn to photo expose screens and play with images and inks to make prints on paper and/or clothing. You can produce a lot of prints quickly, each one with slight imperfections that make it unique. Plan to play and make a few mistakes and messes along the way. You’ll have help and examples to guide you to a finished project meaningful to you. 

Screen Printing

Course Description:

This introductory course will get you started with screen printing.  Photographic process will be taught as well as images applied to the screen with brush and drawing fluid.  A knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is not a requirement but can be helpful to those that know it.  Photoshop is not taught in this class.  Most hand-drawn images can be used as imagery for photo process and this will be demonstrated.  

Mokulito Workshop

Course Description:

This two-day workshop will be an introduction into the medium of Mokulito, a printing technique that combines the relief qualities of a woodcut with the tonal qualities of a lithograph. This workshop will demonstrate preparing a wood surface for painting and carving, the chemical processing of the wood, and print production. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with an understanding of mokulito from start to finish as well as a small edition of prints of your own personal imagery.
