Course Description:

In this workshop, you will learn how to write a play. You will begin by learning some of the basic language of playwriting and how to format your script for submission. You will end the weekend with a play(s) that may be anywhere from one to ten minutes in length. Students should come to the first class with material for note-taking and scriptwriting—this could be a computer or paper and pen/pencil.

The Art of Seeing Color

Course Description:

Discover how the painter’s color wheel was created to inform color harmony, and how to move beyond the wheel to find your own appreciation for color choices. Students will learn the history of color systems through the ages, how the 3-pigment primary color system was developed, and how human color perception affects the colors you see. Each concept in class is supported with hands-on exercises using colored paper and class discussion, creating multiple examples to take home and study.

Beginning Screen Printing

Course Description:

If you are new to either art making or screen printing, this class is for you. Using a mix of techniques and tools, you’ll learn to photo expose screens and play with images and inks to make prints on paper and/or clothing. You can produce a lot of prints quickly, each one with slight imperfections that make it unique. Plan to play and make a few mistakes and messes along the way. You’ll have help and examples to guide you to a finished project meaningful to you.

Course Description:

This introductory course will get you started with screen printing.  Photographic process will be taught as well as images applied to the screen with brush and drawing fluid.  A knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is not a requirement but can be helpful to those that know it.  Photoshop is not taught in this class.  Most hand-drawn images can be used as imagery for photo process and this will be demonstrated.  

Mokulito Workshop

Course Description:

This two-day workshop will be an introduction into the medium of Mokulito, a printing technique that combines the relief qualities of a woodcut with the tonal qualities of a lithograph. This workshop will demonstrate preparing a wood surface for painting and carving, the chemical processing of the wood, and print production. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with an understanding of mokulito from start to finish as well as a small edition of prints of your own personal imagery. 

Introduction to Linocut Relief Printmaking

Course Description:

You’ll spend this studio-based class carving, inking, and hand-printing linoleum blocks while learning the core techniques of relief printmaking. Through demonstrations and guided work time, you’ll leave with a solid foundation in linocut printmaking and a small edition of your own prints.
