Course Description:

Traditional ways of using pinching, coiling, and press molding will be a springboard for you to develop your own unique mark making process. We'll explore a myriad of ways to mark the surface of a pot (or object), create unique forms not constrained by the wheel and to challenge you to look at vessels in a new way.

About the Guest Teaching Artist
 
Emily Schroeder Willis received her BFA from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and her MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has been an artist-in-residence/visiting artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in Montana, the Zentrum für Keramik in Berlin, Germany, the Alberta College of Art and Design in Canada and Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts in Maine. Currently, she lives in Chicago where she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
