Galatea Kontos is an artist and educator living in the Chicagoland area. She is interested in traditional women’s crafts and incorporating them into contemporary jewelry. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, and her Bachelors of Art in Art History from Boston University. Her work has been shown nationally and can be seen in Showcase 500: Beaded Jewelry and Humor in Craft. She currently teaches Metals and Jewelry at Northeastern Illinois University and maintains a home studio practice.
