Course Description:

This class will build upon the information, tools and techniques covered in Basic Woodworking for Adults for any continuing students and for new students who have previous woodworking experience. In this class, students will have the opportunity to continue working on current projects, as well as starting new ones approved by the instructor. Topics covered will include understanding wood and wood movement, purchasing raw lumber, furniture joinery and finishing techniques, and having a thorough understanding of hand and power tools in today’s woodworking shops. Students will be expected to purchase a few safety items, as well as their materials and hardware for each of their projects. Shop safety will be thoroughly examined.

Except for the Independent Study Program, EAC membership is no longer required to take adult classes. EAC members receive a tuition discount on all adult classes, youth classes and workshops. A $75 Independent Study membership is required to participate in the Independent Study Program. The Evanston resident discount no longer applies.
