Paper Garments

Course Description:

Students will use media such as newspapers, publications, and other materials to construct fashion garments. The participants’ garments will then be modeled by trans people at a fashion show at the end of the term to help promote and ensure a strong positive presence for the growing LGBT, specifically Chicago's Transgender, community. This class is in collaboration with FashionBar and the Center on Halsted.

For anyone who loves the movies. Learn the history, theory, terminology, visual language and concepts of moving pictures. Students will be guided through in-depth weekly lectures, followed by the viewing of a corresponding feature film.

Returning students who have completed the Introduction Ikebana course are eligible to register for this class. Students will review basic Hana-Isho form, then will be introduced to the Moribana style which involves more principle stems. After taking this course, students should be eligible to apply for their first certificate from the Ohara School of Ikebana. Tuition includes flower material. Additional supplies may be required and can be purchased through the instructor.
