Course Description:

Learn the fundamental skills and techniques in oil painting! Oil paint is one of the most gorgeous mediums there ever was! It’s rich and forgiving and in a piece of art it has an infinite number of faces and personalities all brought to life by the artist themselves. Proper technique, color theory, experimental processes and the old master method will be covered. Students will create one of a kind, original works using still-life, figure, portrait, landscape and their own wild teen imaginations as catalyst. Basic drawing skills upon entering class are encouraged. By the end of the course, students will have a familiarity and connection to the oil medium. The instructor will also help students to discover artists whose work and approach shares a similar sensibility to their own….their own “artistic ancestors.” Lots of one-on-one attention and group critiques will leave the students on a path of wanting more and creating more!
