Sandra became established as a watercolor artist (25 yr) and instructor (12 yr) in NM where her work was featured in a museum quality poster by the Santa Fe Studio Tour Collective and where she became a signature member of the NM Watercolor Society, following years exhibiting in juried shows as well as galleries. Although she learned the basics at the Art Institute of Chicago, she says that she really learned landscape painting from the beauty of the land itself while out hiking and painting plein aire.
Currently, her style includes impressionistic renderings as well as whimsical abstracts and figurative expressionism. No matter what the style, her love of vibrant color, loose, wet-on-wet technique and the translucent magic of watercolor shines through her work.
Sandra is happy to return to Chicago, her first home, where she obtained a PhD from North Western U. in sociology and enjoyed a research career before leaving for NM and her artist journey.
