Public Relations Internship

A non-profit organization, the Evanston Art Center is one of the largest community art centers in Illinois. For over 90 years, the EAC has been dedicated to fostering the appreciation and expression of the visual arts among the diverse audiences of the Greater Chicago/North Shore region, striving to make the art of our time an accessible and integral part of the community’s life.
Responsibilities include:
- Cultivating relationships with newspapers, magazines, and radio stations
- Writing and distributing press releases
- Assembling and distributing media kits
- Post-event follow up and letter writing
- Working with the Director of Development and communications to develop new PR strategies
Skills Required:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Familiarity with PR
- Ability to multitask
- Mac proficiency is a plus
Hours are flexible.
This is an unpaid internship but we will be happy to write letters of recommendation and assist you in obtaining course credit.
Event and Planning Internship
Are you a people person who wants to gain experience planning large fundraising events? This is a hands-on internship where your contribution will be valuable and evident. At Evanston Art Center, you will have the opportunity to network, have fun, and learn a great deal while contributing to an important cause.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with event planning and logistics
- Develop and distribute event materials
- Solicit in kind donations, underwriting, and auction items from various donors.
- Assist with recruiting event sponsors
- Assist with recruiting and coordinating event volunteers
- Maintain database, write, and distribute thank you letters.
Skills Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Working knowledge of MS
- Experience with database management and mail merge is a plus.
Hours are flexible.

Arts Administration Internship
The Evanston Art Center seeks a dynamic individual who is interested in an Arts Administration Internship. The position entails public relations, marketing, and fundraising work. This is an amazing opportunity to gain significant hands on experience while contributing to a great cause.

Responsibilities include:
Mailings
- Generate mailing lists for projects
- Coordinate PR mailings, label production, and bulk mailing
- Oversee announcement production and mailing
- Post event follow up and letter writing
Public Relations
- Maintain all current listings for exhibitions and events with monthly Time Out Chicago, Chicago Art Guide, Chicagoart.net, and other relevant local listings
- Assemble and distribute media kits
- Write and distribute press releases
- Initiate and cultivate stories and photos with press outlets
- Help to produce and oversee memberships communications including invitations, brochures, acknowledgment letters, solicitation letters, newsletters, and e-mail alerts
- Develop marketing plans
- Work with Director of Development and Communications to produce new PR strategies
Office Management
- Organize files and appropriate documentation
- Handle internal paperwork
- Maintenance of the database
- Answer phone calls
- Grant research and writing
- General Editing
- Write Concentrics articles
- Copy for postcard
Skills Required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with PR
- Ability to multitask
- Self-starter who displays initiative

Community Engagement Internship
Are you interested in gaining knowledge and experience in community outreach and organization? At Evanston Art Center, you will gain hands on experience in activities involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of innovative programs at a community driven organization. EAC seeks to create programming and partnerships that reflect the diversity of the areas we serve.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and sustain partnerships that promote artistic, educational, and social progress in the community
- Schedule, implement, and suggest new community-based programs and other engagement initiatives
- Create surveys and other methods for community dialogue and feedback
- Attend important community meetings on behalf of EAC to hear community concerns, provide information about community engagement, and advocate for participation
- Maintain a database of community stakeholders
Skills Required:
- Passion for community development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Working knowledge of Adobe Suite and Google Suite
- Experience with public programming is a plus
