On June 11, the Evanston Art Center was proud to have 12 artists to talk about their work in On My Own Terms, a BIPOC group show hosted with Evanston Made. Hosted by Scott Greenberg, the artist talks included Jnigez, Chenya O’Hara, Sirimas Benz Amatayakul, Jasmmine Y. West, Danielle West, Braulio Martinez, Elsie Bell, Alexia West, Kali Paylinn, J. Allen Hyde, Zay, and Thomas N. Mosley.

On My Own Terms focuses on the self-identification of people of color from the Evanston area, with work highlighting personal experience and how these artists see themselves. From Jasmmine Y. West’s collectibles of the different cultures of her childhood (Still Rolling My Star) to Sirimas Benz Amatayakul’s dense canvases of flowers chronicling years of emotions (Wild), the incredible artists of this show were able to provide further insight into their messages and process. We are so thankful to Evanston Made for bringing local creators to further light at the EAC.
