Denise Presnell | Unrestrained Ambiguity

abstract painting of a heart in blue and green by Denise Presnell

On View Mary 23 - June 21, 2026

Artist Denise Presnell's biomorphic imagery in Unrestrained Ambiguity feels whimsical with its gestural and voluminous–yet ambiguous–forms. Presnell crafts a dreamlike world in which narratives are riddles without answers, allowing viewers' interpretations to be both singular and valid.

Denise Presnell is a painter originally from Nebraska currently living in Sheboygan, WI. She earned a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Nebraska and an MFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania State University. Following graduate school, Presnell embarked on a career of teaching art at the college level. Her artwork has been featured in over 300 exhibitions in the United States, Tokyo, Botswana, Kenya, and Shanghai and is in numerous private collections in the United States and abroad.
