Course Description:

Students will design a low relief form to be molded and used for decoration on wheel-thrown and handbuilt clay forms, both functional and sculptural.  An image presentation of repetition in nature will provide ideas to create interesting surface designs and embellishments.  All students will create their own designs and mold them as well as utilize additional molds to develop their surfaces.  Demonstrations will be provided on moldmaking, pressing, attaching and manipulating forms.  At the end of class, we will discuss glazing and color in relation to surface orientation.
