Course Description:

Attention all District 65 incoming 6th-8th graders! This camp will combine art and technology to create uniquely designed projects on Evanston Art Center's laser engraver. Laser engraving takes advantage of a high power laser to etch the surface and cut through a variety of materials. In this camp, we'll cover all the steps in preparing your digital file for output on the EAC Maker Lab's laser engraver. Students will learn how to use the laser engraver, design files for print, and have the opportunity to cut, etch and engrave their designs onto wood and plastics. We'll cover a variety of 2D and 3D software that will let the students create objects, including keychains, signs and 3D models.
