Course Description:

A contemporary look at drawing and/or painting the portrait and/or the figure through the examination of 20th and 21st century artists from Picasso to Eric Fischl and artists like Chuck Close. Using oil and acrylic paints or drawing materials, the long pose, live models allow direct observation to begin an abstraction or to include in another artwork. The instruction is individualized with some demonstrations and discussions. Each model pose is two weeks. Bring newsprint, charcoal and painting materials to the first class.

Skill Level: Intermediate

  • In-person class (with reduced capacity) closely following Restore Illinois guidelines.

  • Face coverings required throughout the duration of class.

  • Includes COVID-19 cleaning fee.

Except for the Independent Study Program, EAC membership is no longer required to take adult classes. EAC members receive a tuition discount on all adult classes, youth classes and workshops.
