Course Description:

When you think of embroidery does your mind go to Jane Austen novels or Victorian drawing rooms? Then it’s time to take a fresh look! Many contemporary artists are showing that embroidery can be a radical, transformative and exciting medium for art making. This class will take an “extreme” look at embroidery, beginning with traditional stitched samplers, and moving into an exploration of new materials, concepts and projects. No experience is necessary, just an open mind and willingness to try something old that is new again! Ages 16+
