Eight-week class beginning April 7, 2021
New students will choose a familiar picture book or work a picture book story they’ve written, and create sequential scenes and a picture book dummy. Continuing students who’ve previously taken this class will continue their dummy, and work on promotional writing: pitches and query letters for book submission. Instruction covers: thumbnail layouts, storyboarding, and using a scanner/computer (if students have access) to create book dummies. Materials for 1st class: 9” x 12” sketchbook, tracing paper pad, kneaded eraser, 3 staedtler mars #3b drawing pencils, pencil sharpener, and references for your picture book drawings. We’ll use Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop – you can purchase from Adobe Creative Cloud for a month.
