Course Description:

This multi-level, hands-on course introduces newcomers to the basic skills and tools to create hand-crafted books. Learn about folding, sewing and gluing to explore different types of stitches and structures to create several of your own sample books. More experienced returning students will explore more complex structures with in-depth techniques, potentially covering Coptic bindings, long-stitch, advanced Japanese side-stitch or other, as well as developing content for your pieces.

Skill Level: All Levels

  • In-person class (with reduced capacity) closely following Restore Illinois guidelines.

  • Face coverings required throughout the duration of class.

  • Includes COVID-19 cleaning fee.

  • Please note: this session does not include Open Studio time. Printmaking Open Studio hours are available for additional cost.

Except for the Independent Study Program, EAC membership is no longer required to take adult classes. EAC members receive a tuition discount on all adult classes, youth classes and workshops. A $75 Independent Study membership is required to participate in the Independent Study Program. The Evanston resident discount no longer applies.
