Art School: Metal Sculpture
Students will learn basic to advanced metal working techniques (forged and fabricated) to create direct metal sculpture and functional objects. The Evanston Art Center's metal sculpture studio is equipped with gas, arc and T.I.G. welding facilities, a plasma cutting machine, as well as various cold-working equipment, and the only accessible coke forge in the area. The EAC sells steel, resprirators, and other consumable supplies.
Safety is of the utmost concern in the EAC Metal Sculpture Department. Safe practices include common sense, awareness of yourself and others working around you, and appropriate personal protective equipment. Students should come dressed in natural fiber cotton or wool work clothes and sturdy, closed toed shoes.
Evanston Art Center membership is required to enroll in these classes. Click here to purchase or renew membership.
