Adult Workshops
Nina Weiss
Gouache is water-based opaque paint with bright, saturated color and velvety, matte finish. Explore the technical possibilities of this quick drying medium, including linear and tonal technique; painterly and graphic applications. Multi-level, no experience required.
SUPPLIES
Gouache Paint
Waterbased gouache paint in tubes: NOT pan, cake, or jar form.
The following colors are suggested:
––Zinc White
––Ivory Black
––Spectrum Red
––Alizarin Crimson
––Primary Yellow
––Cobalt Blue or Primary Blue
––Ultramarine Blue
––Prussian Blue
––Viridian Green
––Brilliant Green
There is a twelve color set available from Windsor Newton.
Brushes
An assortment of flat and round brushes. Sabeline or soft nylon brushes are ok. Stiff bristle oil paint brushes are not good.
––Flats: #3, #6, #10
––Rounds: #3, #6, #10
You can pick other variations of sizes to supplement.
Supports
We will paint on a flat, hard surface that will not ripple when wet. You can choose from the following supports:
––Bookboard (medium thickness). This is a gray, archival board.
––Illustration board.
One sheet of either material is sufficient. We will not be painting on canvas or canvas board. If you choose to work on board, we will prime the boards.
––Small jar Gesso
––Large brush (1 1/2” - 2” _ House painting quality ok).
Palette
White plastic/china with mixing wells, larger size, at least 8”x10”.
MISTER – For keeping your paints moist.
JARS/CUPS – for water.
EXACTO/MATT KNIFE & STRAIGHT EDGE
