Note: This workshop meets in Studio 221 in the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes Street.

Check out this intriguing method for creating a silk screen in only seconds and you'll be hooked. Screens can be used to print on fabric, paint on any flat surface with paint, dye, glue, gesso, discharge paste, and many other mediums. One large (7" x 9") screen is included in your class fee; additional screens may be purchased.

SUPPLIES

•Foam produce trays
•Exacto knife
•Cutting mat
•Sketchbook or 9" x 12" paper
•Pencil, black pens, or marker
•Duct Tape (Duck Brand Professional grade works best)
•High contrast black and white photocopies of a variety of images to consider for thermofax screens in two sizes 7" x 9" and 3 1/2" x 5" (Must be from commercial or laser copier using toner, inkjet printers are unpredictable)
•Several bottles of good quality textile paint -- if using dark fabric or paper be sure to have at least one opaque color. (Seatacolor, Jacquard, ProChem brands are good; do not bring more than one metallic)
•6 - 10 18" x 22" pre-washed light and dark solid colored smooth fabric SCRAPS on which to print images.
OR
•6 - 10 18" x 22" light and dark colored paper upon which to screen images.

Wear work clothes!
